All DollHouseDesigns.COM's PlanSets are to be downloaded and are available immediately after the creditcard transaction is completed (approved). We download them as self-extracting files to avoid the problems that can be experienced with PDF file delivery (sometimes people forget to save the file). DHD.COM is an e-business only and does not have a brick and mortar facility. Because of that, we are not setup to print and mail plans. The following guide will help those customers whose computer-file knowledge is limited. Give it a try, we haven't lost a customer or a file yet.

Download
After your creditcard transaction has been approved, a link will be provided for the actual downloading of the PlanSets ordered. Click on the link and save the file[s] to your hard drive. These files are self-extracting (.EXE - Windows shows them as Application files).

In addition to the link, a receipt will be emailed to you with the URLs listed for each PlanSet ordered.

Remember the folder where you save the files. After downloading all the plans and BonusPac, you can sign off the Internet and open the plans. The easiest method is to use Windows Explorer to locate your downloaded file.

Double click on each of the files. This will extract the files from the EXE format and produce a .PDF file by the same name ( StephanieBP.EXE = > Stephanie.PDF and BonusPac.PDF ).

This window will momentarily appear.

This black window will momentarily appear while the PDF files are being extracted. The new files will be placed in the same folder as the downloaded file.

Double click on the new .PDF file. Adobe Acrobat Reader (free from Adobe.com) will open and load the plans. Caution - do not zoom in while in Adobe, this may overload your computer's memory and lock up your system causing you to re-boot. After the file is loaded into Adobe, print your plans.

When I double-click on the downloaded file, a black box momentarily appears but nothing else happens.

Good! That means the files have been downloaded (no need to download again) and now they have been extracted. That black window was the extraction process. Everything is on track. The most common problem is not knowing about the "new" file that is extracted after double-clicking on the file that was downloaded. More than likely, the new .PDF file is in the same location as the .EXE file.

I can’t find the .PDF file

To find that file, goto -
START, FIND, FILES/FOLDERS and type in first 6 letters of the file (i.e. for MaryKayBP.exe type in "maryka" ), search your "C" drive. This may produce several files - the ones you are interested in are the .EXE and .PDF files. Double click on the .PDF and print.

I double-click on the filename.PDF file but a window opens asking what program I want to use to open the file.

Either
1) you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader: Goto Adobe.com and download and install the Acrobat Reader. This program is used for many Internet documents.
OR
2) the association for PDF has been broken: If you know you have Adobe, then open it and load the file directly into Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I still can't get them.

Mac Users

I know nothing about Macs except they don't do EXE files without special programs. We use self-extracting (.EXE) zip files to compress 2 files into one for delivery. So, after downloading, if you have a problem opening the file, send me an email and I will return a "key" for you to use. Be sure to include your order number.
